Has your child ever wondered what it feels like to breathe underwater?

Two children wearing scuba gear and yellow masks smile and give the OK hand signal during a PADI Bubblemaker session in a swimming pool.

The PADI Bubblemaker program introduces children to scuba diving in a safe, shallow and controlled swimming-pool environment. With real scuba equipment and direct supervision from an experienced PADI instructor, children can take their first underwater breaths, practice simple skills and discover the excitement of scuba diving.

At Ocean Therapy Charters, our goal is to make every Bubblemaker experience safe, relaxed and memorable.

What Is the PADI Bubblemaker Program?

PADI Bubblemaker is an introductory scuba experience for children who are at least eight years old. No previous scuba experience is required, although participants should be comfortable in the water and able to follow basic instructions.

The program takes place in a swimming pool or another suitable confined-water environment, with a maximum depth of approximately six feet, or two meters.

Bubblemaker is not a scuba certification course. It is a fun introduction that allows children to experience scuba equipment and underwater breathing before they are old enough to begin a Junior Open Water Diver certification course.

What Will Your Child Learn?

Each session begins with a simple, age-appropriate introduction to scuba equipment, underwater communication and pool safety.

Depending on the child’s comfort level,

participants may learn how to:

  • Breathe comfortably through a scuba regulator

  • Wear and move with scuba equipment

  • Use basic underwater hand signals

  • Clear water from a regulator or mask

  • Swim and play underwater

  • Follow directions from their instructor

The program is designed to be enjoyable rather than stressful. Children are encouraged to move at their own pace, ask questions and become comfortable with each step before continuing.

Some children are ready to swim underwater almost immediately, while others need more time to adjust to the mask, regulator or equipment. Both are completely normal.

Experienced SCUBA Instructors Who Are Also Parents

Teaching children requires patience, encouragement and close attention.

Ocean Therapy Charters’ staff includes experienced scuba instructors who are also parents themselves. We understand the questions parents may have and the importance of knowing that their child is receiving personal, attentive supervision.

A scuba instructor helps a child adjust their scuba gear while sitting at the edge of a swimming pool during a PADI Bubblemaker session.

Our instructors focus on helping each participant feel comfortable and successful. Sessions are casual and fun, but safety and professional supervision remain the priority at all times.

Before entering the pool, we explain the equipment, review basic hand signals and make sure every child understands how to communicate with the instructor. Parents are also encouraged to ask questions before the activity begins.

Safety Is Always Number One

Bubblemaker takes place in a shallow and controlled pool environment under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional.

Our instructors carefully monitor each participant and adjust the experience according to the child’s confidence and comfort level. No child is pressured to complete a skill or remain underwater when they are uncomfortable.

We believe the best first scuba experience is one that builds confidence, curiosity and excitement while maintaining clear safety procedures.

Parents or legal guardians must provide permission and complete the required participation forms. Any health or medical concerns should be discussed with Ocean Therapy Charters before the scheduled session.

A private-pool Bubblemaker session can be a memorable addition to:

  • Birthday parties

  • Family gatherings

  • Vacation-home activities

  • Homeschool programs

  • Youth-group events

  • Private celebrations

Before confirming an off-site session, our team will review the pool and event details to make sure the location is appropriate for the program.

A Unique Birthday or Family Experience

A Bubblemaker session is a great option for families looking for something more memorable than a traditional pool party.

Children get to wear scuba equipment, breathe underwater and experience the feeling of becoming a young underwater explorer. Sessions can be arranged for an individual child, siblings or a small group, depending on pool space and instructor availability.

Small groups allow our instructors to provide close supervision and personal attention to every participant.

Is Your Child Ready?

Your child may be ready for PADI Bubblemaker when they:

  • Are at least eight years old

  • Feel comfortable in a swimming pool

  • Can listen to and follow simple instructions

  • Are interested in scuba diving or ocean exploration

  • Have permission from a parent or legal guardian

Participants do not need to be expert swimmers, but they should be comfortable entering the water and moving around in the pool.

Take Their First Breath Underwater

For many children, Bubblemaker is the beginning of a lifelong interest in scuba diving and the underwater world. For others, it is simply an exciting opportunity to try something new and create a memory they will never forget.

Ocean Therapy Charters provides a welcoming environment where children can explore scuba diving with patient instruction, personal attention and safety-focused supervision.
